Denver Deals: Stocks Show, Free Days, and more

I am the deals editor. I don’t often play the Powerball (and I rarely have cash because I can’t track where it goes). But I decided this week to play. I mean really, if it is $1.3 Billion – with a “B” – I may win right? Do you dream about what you will do with your money? That was exactly what I was thinking on my run yesterday. But I realized that Deals are so ingrained in me I would still probably look for a deal – a way to make my money go further. Would you?

Denver Deal: Veteran’s Day Deals, Free Days, Starbucks, and More

I recently went to a fun Detective Dinner with my kids that we booked through Vimbly.com. Vimbly offered MileHighMamas a gift certificate to try out the service. It was simple to choose a fun and interactive event to participate in (I will write a post shortly about our night). The choices were plentiful from exploration, adventure, eating, drinking and more. The process for making our choice, registering, checking out and what I liked best was the reminder emails.

Denver Deal: Qdoba, McDonalds, Free Days and More

I have been a guest to several shows at the Denver Center for a couple years now. There are some shows that stick out in my mind such as the big-name ones like Wicked and Annie! But the ones I seem to like the best are the ones that surprise me. I really liked Peter and the Starcatcher a couple years ago, and The 12 earlier this year.  That is why I’m very excited to see LookingGlass Alice. The show is supposed to be about Alice’s trip down the rabbit hole. The description says it is funny and imaginative transporting audiences down the rabbit hole to a circus-infused playground. It is only here September 11 through October 11 and tickets are part of the Denver Center’s reduced-price ticket program.

Free Days

Free Driving Training. On September 26 and 27, the Bridgestone Teens Drive Smart Driving Experience is coming to Denver. This free, half-day driver training program that provides teens with knowledge to make better decisions while driving. The program features a safe, hands-on driving introduction for teens in a fun, supervised environment. At the Driving Experience, we teach teens various driving maneuvers, demonstrate the effects of distracted driving and show them ways to help keep their vehicle running at peak performance. A valid learner’s permit or driver’s license is required to participate in the Teens Drive Smart Driving Experience. http://www.teensdrivesmarttour.com/

Free Women’s Vitality Event. On September 19 from noon-4 p.m., come to Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy in Greenwood Village for personalized health and wellness solutions. Qdoba BOGO. Qdoba is offering a buy one get one free (entree) mid-week promotion this week, September 8 and 9th. Just mention Buddy Pass when you place and settle your order.

McDonalds Free Breakfast. Mom used to say, “breakfast is the most important meal of the day” and once again, mom was right. On Wednesday, September 9, McDonalds is offering FREE breakfast to kids kindergarten through 8th grade. From 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. kids can get apple slices and their choice of an Egg McMuffin or Egg White Delight McMuffin and milk or Minute Maid orange juice.

They’ve launched a national program that they’ll give 1% of your total bill back to your selected school EVERY TIME YOU DINE AT RED ROBIN!  Denver Theater. They are doubling their reduced-price ticket program to provide access to even more people and more shows — even occasional Cabaret and Broadway productions! Plus, you can now order online as well as in person and by phone. Tickets cost $10.00 EACH (with additional $1.50 service fee per ticket). Limit of 4 tickets per production. Some of the shows currently available are LookingGlass Alice (which I’m excited to take my kids to), As You Like It, Tribes, A Christmas Carol, The Nest, All The Way, Fade, Sweeney Todd, The SantaLand Diaries. Each has a specific on-sale date.

Hey fourth graders: Do you want to see America’s natural wonders and historic sites for free? Earlier this year, the “Every Kid in a Park” initiative was announced that all fourth grade students and their families would have free admission to National Parks, national forests, national wildlife refuges and waters for a full year starting in the 2015-2016 school year. That day has come so grab your fourth grader and be sure to sign up now at https://everykidinapark.gov/.

Free Denver Walking Tours Denver parents, kiddos, and visitors alike will be able to see and experience downtown Denver in a new way. They’ll be able to take advantage of Denver Free Walking Tours’ new two hour daily tours that leave at 10 a.m. daily, starting in Civic Center Park, then wind through downtown past more than a dozen of Denver’s distinctive landmarks, and end in front of Coors Field. No reservations needed and tours are every day – rain, snow, or shine.  There’s no up-front cost for this fun, educational opportunity for kids and parents but tipping is strongly recommended.
